"Raptor Red book cover re-engineering assignment"

Utahraptor ostrommaysorum. My final assignment for my portfolio and marketing class, a book cover re-engineering project.

We had to had to choose a book cover we thought could be better and create an illustration of our own design. I used an acrylic painting of Raptor Red I did for a similar assignment a year earlier and adapted it for a book cover . Some anatomical changes were made (the brow anatomy) in light of some articles I read about dromaeosaurs.  This cover is meant to illustrate the scene after she loses her first consort at the beginning of the book. 

I might send this and my Raptor Red paintings I did for my other class to Bob Bakker at the end of the month. 

 
Completed on the 15th of December 2015.

Done using acrylics, watercolor pencils, Photoshop CS6.
