Triceratops horridus. A comprehensive update to a digital painting I painted years ago.
I really liked this head study I did for a presentation of mine for my biology class, so I revisited and it updated it with more details.
Completed on the 15th of June 2015.
Done using Photoshop CS6 and Corel Painter 2015.

Overall Vision Originality Technique ImpactIt seems that the Cretaceous was the perfect period in time to see that most amazing Dinosaurs and Triceratops is one of them. Looking at this reminds me why Triceratops is my second favorite Dinosaur. The colors and detail make me think that I'm looking at the animal in the flesh. I especially like the green coloration. It flows nicely with the brown and white coloration. Even the black tips on the horns and beak look realistic. Even though Triceratops was an herbivorous animal, I still wouldn't want to be at the receiving end of those horns. If I could criticize anything anything, why does the full name Triceratops Horridus mean "Horrid Three-Horned Face"? The name is inaccurate. It is truly beautiful.
